This long-lived building was only a full time cinema for a few short years from 1907 to around 1914, when it was known as Pringle's Picture Palace. Opening as the Star Music Hall, it had a number of other names, including the Shakespeare Music Hall, the New Star Theatre of Varieties  and the Queen's Theatre.
